James 1:9-11

After James’ opening verses, his following words may seem quite confusing:

The brother in humble circumstances ought to take pride in his high position.

What the? The opening verses of trials and prayer are now turned into a practical example of how one should understand their position. The person of humble circumstances, to put it bluntly, is one who lacks material necessity and possession, the poor. Is James trying be funny? What high position? No. Quite the opposite, James is talking about the riches of one’s faith to see themselves from the perspective of God rather than the perspective of man.

Woohoo! Exams are finished. Now, forward to learning Ancient Greek!

I made the comment on a friend’s blog the other day that it had been 2 years since its inception. It got me thinking about how long I’ve “lived” life on the Internet. It’s been just over 10 years now since I started my first website and for as long as I can remember. Since first hooking up to the Internet, I’ve cycled through over 20 different email addresses (I currently still have 4 active), made over 10 websites (one I dare admit was a celebrity fan site [listed in the best top 10] which had me buying Vanity Fair at one point) and used most mainstream chat programs (AIM, Yahoo, MSN, Google, Skype, ICQ).

Neither is my life as a techno-geek limited to the computer, phones…and if any of you know me, you know I’ve cycled through a great number of them…on average one a year, though I will say that I have slowed down that process and with the upcoming iPhone will slow that down significantly. I could go on, but really, I’ll save it for another time. From the techno-geek…

Download Day - English

Yes, I am shamelessly promoting Download Day. Mozilla is attempting a world-record for most downloads in 24-hours. On the launch (to be confirmed) of Firefox 3, Mozilla hope to set a new world record officially judged by the Guinness World Record council.
